Burning Out? Top Tips from Claire’s Health ‘Intervention’

Feeling burnt out? Wondering how you’ll get to the end of the year? Well that’s exactly how Claire was feeling a few weeks ago. . . until she decided an intervention was needed.

A gruelling work schedule for ten months plus a second bout of Covid earlier this year left Claire wondering if she’d ever feel 100% again. So, realising she had a short window of time,  she did what any self-respecting woman lucky enough to be in a position to do: she booked herself into a health retreat!

The good news is that you don’t have to go anywhere to learn what Claire learnt during her retreat because we’re sharing all the goodies here.

In this episode you’ll hear:

  • What made Claire choose the retreat she did
  • The massive insight she had about her behaviours in the past two years
  • How she survived without her mobile or wifi
  • Fun facts about the gut, and
  • Her key takeaway habits and rituals – that you can easily do too.

Plus you’ll hear why you should think of your body (not your bank balance) as your retirement fund.

Suffice to say we had a lot of fun talking about Claire’s week away and we think you’ll have fun listening too. Plus, your body may well thank you for it….

Future Proof Me – Beating Burnout

  • November 9, 2021
  • by Claire

We’re in the ‘home straight’ heading towards the end of the year and following the crazy year so many of us have had (thanks COVID!) we thought what better time to remind ourselves of tools to help prevent burnout?

We were lucky enough a few weeks back to run an online seminar on burnout with the best selling author, psychologist and leadership expert, Dr Jacinta Jiménez, and, as so many people signed up, we decided we should revisit Dr Jacinta’s amazing advice from our conversation on the podcast with her some months back.

Following the release of her science-backed, best selling book, The Burnout Fix, Dr Jacinta is definitely the one to turn to for advice dealing with burnout. She has deconstructed what burnout is, how it can be caused, and of course how to recover from burnout.

In this info-packed mini episode, you’ll hear that burnout for all of us is caused by one of six mismatches between who we are and our work or roles. Then you’ll hear how using Dr Jacinta’s PULSE model can help you keep burnout away.

Enjoy this mini episode and don’t forget to schedule yourself a mini break for today too! 🙂

  • by Claire

We’re excited to share this week’s episode with changemaker, leader and author, Holly Ransom.

Holly has pioneered her way into boardrooms and forums at the top end of town but what’s really interesting about Holly is her deep thoughtfulness, her fortitude to blaze her own path, and her drive to make the world a better place.

This 31 year old Aussie has Chaired the G20 Youth Summit, she’s an internationally sought after speaker and conference MC, and she’s recently completed her Masters of Public Policy in technology at the Harvard Kennedy School of Business – as a Fulbright Scholar no less.

Holly has made the most of conversations with some of the most high profile people in the world, interviewing everyone from President Obama to Muhammad Yunus and Malcolm Gladwell. These encounters, plus her own journey, have resulted in her first book, The Leading Edge.

Holly was awarded the US Embassy’s Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Leadership Excellence in 2019 and she was nominated by Richard Branson as his pick for future game changers to watch.

In this episode you’ll learn SO MUCH including:

  • How Holly’s life has been shaped by her curiosity about the big questions in life
  • Why developing depression was one of the most powerful shifts in her life and what she now does differently
  • How she goes about connecting with, and learning from, some the world’s most successful people
  • What she learnt from doing something that scared her every day for a year; and
  • Why she’s so passionate about busting myths around who can be a leader.

This is a memorable conversation, so don’t miss the pioneering and inspiring Holly Ransom.

Vicki Saunders – Reinventing the Game for Female Founders

  • September 11, 2019September 11, 2019
  • by admin

In our episode this week we meet an entrepreneur who’s been on a 30 year quest to find ways to create environments and networks for people to innovate and solve problems that matter. We’re talking about the amazing Founder and CEO of SheEO, Vicki Saunders.

Vicki grew up in Canada on her family’s farm where she learnt early on to work hard and problem solve. However, her pathway to becoming an entrepreneur took place, unusually for a young Canadian woman, in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

Vicki spent 4 years in Prague where she started multiple businesses learning as she went along. She also built a community of entrepreneurs there, before returning to Toronto to found Canada’s first ever incubator.

Fast forward many years and Vicki was mentoring a brilliant young female entrepreneur who was struggling to get funded. She realised then that the system was broken for women… with female-founded startups receiving less than 4% of all venture capital funding.

Vicki decided she had to do something to change this and figure out a way to get more women’s business ideas funded.

And so SheEO was founded. Now operating in 5 countries, SheEO is a network of women who support, finance and celebrate female innovators who run ventures solving important world problems.

In this episode learn:

  •     What it was like as an entrepreneur in Eastern Europe after the Berlin Wall came down
  •     How Vicki created Canada’s first incubator, floated it on the stock exchange; and then got fired
  •     Why she thinks the environment you surround yourself in is so critical to your success
  •     How women’s radical generosity is changing the world, and how you can get involved.

Enjoy this episode with the visionary and passionate Vicki Saunders.

How to Make Time Your Friend

  • March 25, 2019
  • by admin

“Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.”

William Penn, Founder of Pennsylvania

We know you’re probably a very busy person but you won’t want to miss this episode all about maximising your time.

It’s precisely because we all are so busy that pausing to think about how we’re using our time can be so worthwhile. William Penn may have lived in the late 1600’s and early 1700’s but he was spot on with his quote above about how we humans can use our time.

In this latest episode in our ‘How To’ series, we share a whole host of useful tools and approaches used by a variety of amazing leaders that will help you ensure you maximise your own precious time and reduce any frustration you feel about time racing by too fast or tasks taking you too long to achieve.

In this episode you’ll hear:

  • 4 different ways to think about your time over the longer term and how being clear about your longer term priorities really makes a difference with your day to day work
  • 4 approaches to tackle your day to day priorities and ‘To Do’ lists
  • Plus, one unique way one of our podcast guests has figured out to maximise her energy and productivity every week enabling her to get so much more done

Do yourself a favour and invest 30 minutes listening to this episode . . . it may well change your relationship with time.

Plus, we’d love to hear what works for you. Share your own time-saving or time-valuing tips and hacks with us at hello@dontstopusnow.co
