  • August 8, 2024
  • by Claire

Ever wondered what it’s like to ride in a rocket, and we do mean literally?

Today you get to hear first hand about space travel with our guest, the 44th female astronaut in history and the first Iranian and Muslim woman in space. Astronaut and Entrepreneur, Anousheh Ansari is also only the 4th self-funded person to travel to space and the International Space Station.

We had the best time in this conversation with Anousheh, hearing her incredible stories about the experience of rocketing into orbit.

And Anousheh is so much more than an astronaut. She’s also an extremely successful entrepreneur and co-founded a successful technology company which saw her listed on Fortune Magazine’s 40 under 40. Shortly after she sold that business in 2000 for around $USD 750 million.

A qualified electrical engineer, Ahousheh has been recognised for her innovation and entrepreneurialism with numerous awards including the George Mason University Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, and a Space Pioneer award from the National Space Society

These days, Anousheh is focused on solving humanity’s biggest problems, something she does as CEO of the X Prize Foundation as you’ll hear in our episode. It’s some of the most hopeful content we’ve heard in years!

In this absorbing episode you’ll also learn:

  • How growing up in Iran during the Revolution has impacted Anousheh’s approach to life
  • Why space was something that fascinated her since she was a little girl
  • What Anousheh believes it takes to build a successful business
  • How she and her family have made a massive difference to the space industry
  • The highs and lows of 9 months of astronaut training in Russia, and
  • How, with numerous X Prizes addressing Earth’s biggest issues, she’s hopeful about our future.

So buckle up and do not miss this inspiring conversation with the entrepreneurial and abundant thinker & doer, Anousheh Ansari…

Taylor White – The Art of Creating

  • July 6, 2021August 10, 2021
  • by Claire

This week we feature the first ever visual artist on the show when we talk with the entrepreneurial and talented American artist, Taylor White.

Taylor has worked around the world creating incredible street murals and fine art. You may have seen her work in Melbourne, Oslo, Berlin, LA, Miami, and her hometown of Raleigh in North Carolina.

Taylor spent a lot of last year driven by the goal to create and produce her own solo exhibition (The Pursuit of Happiness) inspired by her observations of life in the time of Covid. As you’ll hear, producing your own exhibition is no small undertaking.

Being a professional artist is a tough gig – a recent study showed that only 17% of artists make most of their income from their actual art practise. So Taylor’s experiences make this all the more interesting.

 In this episode you’ll learn:

  • How Taylor creates large scale street murals
  • Her advice for anyone who wants to be more creative
  • Why focusing on what you can control is so important
  • And, why she believes almost anything is possible today.

So don’t miss this great conversation with the thoughtful and creative Taylor White.

Gaby Dalkin – How Her Food Side Hustle Took…

  • April 23, 2019
  • by admin

We’re so impressed by how this week’s guest has grown her business and her brand from pre side-hustle stage, to become the entrepreneurial ‘foodie’ success it is today. We think you’ll love getting to know Gaby Dalkin, the California based chef, author and influencer.

Gaby is the CEO of ‘What’s Gaby Cooking’. She and her team are a content and recipe creating machine! She has more than 450,000 Instagram followers, she’s published 2 cookbooks with another on the way, she’s appeared on some of America’s most watched TV shows, she has several product ranges at kitchenware giant Williams Sonoma, and has numerous other brand partnerships as well.

When we met Gaby we were blown away by her obvious dedication and commitment. We actually met her whilst on holiday in Patagonia and in between our horse riding and hearty ‘estancia’ (ranch) Patagonian BBQ lunch, Gaby was clearly working on social media and we were intrigued.

So intrigued, we got chatting and the rest is history!

And in today’s episode you’ll learn:

  • How this famous foodie had never tasted fish until she started at culinary school
  • The secret to her building up such a loyal and ever-growing number of followers
  • How her business smarts and initiative led her to her first product line with Williams Sonoma
  • And the biggest challenge she’s had to overcome in order to be able to delegate and grow her business

We hope you enjoy this episode with the super smart and delightful Gaby Dalkin.

Gaby having fun – on set with two of her team, Matt & Adam; and with her husband Thomas in Patagonia (where we met them)
